Understanding Information Levels

The U.S. Department of Defense defines six Impact Levels (IL) for cloud computing, from IL2 (unclassified public information) through IL6 (classified Top Secret). Each level requires progressively stringent security controls. IL4 supports Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), IL5 handles Secret-level data, and IL6 processes Top Secret and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Multi-Level Security Architecture

Cloud security begins with physical security. Our IL6 data centers implement Defense-in-Depth protections: perimeter security with vehicle barriers and armed guards, multi-factor authentication for facility access, mantrap entries preventing tailgating, and 24/7 video surveillance with 90-day retention. All personnel undergo enhanced background investigations with Yankee White clearances required for Top Secret areas. The facilities include SCIFs (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities) for the most sensitive workloads, meeting ICD/ICS 705 technical specifications.

Continuous Security Monitoring

Classified environments require continuous monitoring for security events. Our Security Operations Center (SOC) provides 24/7/365 monitoring by cleared analysts.
