We design fire control systems processing sensor data including target position from radar or electro-optical systems, own-ship motion and orientation from inertial navigation, environmental conditions affecting ballistics like temperature and wind, and weapon-specific parameters like drag coefficients and motor performance. The fire control computer generates aiming solutions accounting for all these factors, updated continuously as conditions change. Safety interlocks prevent weapon release outside safe parameters, ensuring compliance with rules of engagement.
Targeting & Sensor Integration
Effective weapons employment requires precise target location. We integrate targeting sensors including targeting pods providing electro-optical and infrared imagery, laser designators illuminating targets for precision-guided munitions, radar systems detecting and tracking targets at extended range, and network feeds receiving targeting data from offboard sensors. Safety-Critical Software Development
Weapons systems are inherently safety-critical—software errors can cause unintended weapon releases or fratricide. We develop weapons integration software following DO-178C (for aviation) and IEC 61508 (for other domains) safety standards. Development processes include formal requirements specification and traceability, software design reviews with independent verification, comprehensive testing including hardware-in-the-loop simulation, and safety analysis identifying and mitigating hazards.
